Duke Endowment Provides 8 Fellowships

For Five-Day Clergy Program

At the Davidson Centre

 

On behalf of the NC Conference, the Durham District has received a $25,000.00 grant for rural church pastors to attend the Clergy Program at the Davidson Centre, www.davcp.com

The Duke Endowment is offering 8 full fellowships, including travel expenses, for eligible pastors to attend Davidson Clergy Center’s Five-Day Renewal Program.  These grants are open to pastors and district superintendents serving Duke Endowment Rural Churches in the North Carolina Conference, listed at www.dukeendowment.org.

The Davidson Centre offers an ecumenical program in Davidson, NC, dealing with the whole person that renews your ability to lead and function as a pastor.  Physical training, spiritual direction, small group and individual counseling are part of the program.  Confidentiality is always honored.

On-Site Program Schedule:  Monday morning through mid-afternoon Friday

The morning sessions begin at 8:00 a.m., and schedules are individualized for each day. Afternoon group consultations typically conclude at 4:30 pm. Throughout the week, participants receive:

  • Daily individual consultations with a Licensed Professional counselor (LPC).
  • Individual fitness training sessions                                                                                              
  • Individual spiritual direction                                                                                                         
    • In these consultations, clergy assess their emotional health and develop short-and long-term goals to initiate positive changes.
  • Afternoon seminars build on the individual consultation and are led by a specialist in the areas of:
    • Stress management and resiliency
    • A fresh look at system dynamics
    • Secondary stress & psychodynamic dimensions of clergy leadership
    • Personal call to service and maturity
    • Forming a plan with specific goals
  • Individual physical assessments
    • Personal fitness evaluation
    • Individual lab tests (optional)
    • Individual consultation with a registered nutritionist
  • Goal-setting consultation with a Professional Coach
  • Two months of follow-up sessions with a Professional Coach
